In Honor of Brittany
Brittany K. Boegel age 32, passed away Wednesday July 4, 2018 in Anchorage, AK from injuries sustained in a hiking accident. She was an energetic and engaging teacher for 10 years, most recently teaching at Venture Academy in Minneapolis. She enjoyed outdoor activities meeting friends to run, hike or bike and played on several rec sports teams. Her passion was giving back to others through teaching and supporting many charitable organizations.
Brittany founded the Venture Academy chapter of Girls on the Run (GOTR), an organization that focuses on developing healthy relationships, increasing self-confidence, and feeling good, inside and out, through the ultimate goal of running a 5k. Venture Academy and Girls on the Run are teaming up to sponsor a 5k to honor Brit's memory. Join us in running to raise money for an organization close to Brit's heart, Girls on the Run. |
"Ms. Boegel was an amazing coach who cared about how others felt, and she always pushed you to do your best every practice." - Lynae, a two year member of Brittany's GOTR team and former Math student "Brittany's influence at GOTR will be felt for a long time. Her energy, dedication, enthusiasm, and can-do attitude were contagious and inspiring. When she first reached out to us about starting a Girls on the Run team at Venture, she was all-in from the start, immediately wondering if she could bring students to the 5k to see it in action, meeting with other coaches to learn about what it would take to start a team, inviting others from the community to help out. I remember her constantly saying "Let me know what I can do to get this in motion!" That line is how she approached life: engaged, helpful, passionate, and ready to "get this in motion."" - Kathleen Cannon, GOTR Program Director |
